The UK-Vietnam Fund

The UK-Vietnam Fund is designed to provide a flexible and efficient means for the embassy to support small projects that support the British Government’s priorities in Vietnam.

Project funds are managed by the embassy’s Projects Committee, which makes recommendations to the ambassador. The committee considers strategic project proposals developed within the British Embassy or Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City which explicitly support the delivery of British Government’s objectives in Vietnam.

The projects within the UK-Vietnam Fund focus on the following areas:

  1. Supporting managed migration from Vietnam and achieving increased returns of Vietnamese immigration offenders
  2. Supporting Vietnam's role in progressing issues on the international agenda and helping to increase the capacity and effectiveness of key international institutions
  3. Sustained improvements in Vietnam’s civil and political human rights record, in line with its international commitments and its objective of long-term sustainable development. Progress on the wider governance agenda, anti-corruption, media and the rule of law.
  4. Promoting a low carbon, high growth economy.

In 2008, the UK-Vietnam Fund has supported over 20 projects on a wide range of issues, including promotion of legal migration, media development, economic cooperation, the rule of law, access to justice, good governance and combatting human trafficking.

The embassy would be keen to work with local partners to implement our priority projects. Any interested implementing organisations are invited to send background information of your organisation and a list of projects that you have done for our reference. We may then invite you to tender for appropriate projects.
